Daily Delicious – Sandy Actionscript 3D Library Tutorials

Posted on 5 February, 2007 at 12:25pm with 3 comments

3D Actionscript/Flash seems to be the big trend as of late with some really impressive open source libraries becoming available to the public. The two most comprehensive Flash 3D libraries seem to be Sandy (currently available) and Papervision (in private beta) which I wrote about earlier. My experience with 3D within Flash is basically non-existent, so when I ran across this exhaustive Sandy tutorial I felt like I hit the mother-lode.

I spent quite a few years of my life playing in the 3D environment with modeling and rendering, so I feel like I have a fairly good background to start from. Still, tackling 3D from a programatic standpoint is quite different and this set of tutorials is a huge help. The tutorials cover primitives, the camera, lighting, interaction and many other subjects. I have only had the chance to skim each topic and I already have learned quite a bit. If you are into Flash/Actionscript at all, I highly suggest this set of tutorials.
