Please Mind the Wonkiness – Some Random Dude Just Went Through a Server Migration

Posted on 7 May, 2007 at 11:43pm with 4 comments

My apologies for the slight downtime – Some Random Dude just migrated to a new and improved server which should make a few things much easier for additional changes and a fairly significant addition to the site. All in all, the migration was basically painless. Thank you Media Temple!

As for the schedule, my wife and I will be preoccupied this upcoming week, so major changes should begin to happen in two weeks. Depending on a couple variables, the process could end up being accelerated. I am still going to attempt to keep at my regular writing pace while making changes/additions to the site – we will see how that plays out.

Public QA Help Request in the Coming Week

Posted on 30 April, 2007 at 12:14pm with 4 comments

Barring an emergency in before or during the upcoming week, I will be upgrading my server with my web host. This whole process requires a migration to another server and a small amount of re-wiring on my end. The plan was to do this last weekend, but as I mentioned in my last post, that did not end up working out. This migration is happening for two reasons – one fairly large, the other not so much. Still, in the end, I think both are going to make this site much more enjoyable.

Due to the hectic schedule, I doubt I will be able to do more than two or three hours of QA once the site is moved over. Therefore, I will be adding a very clear method of posting bugs to me once the site switches over. My hope is that the majority of the functional additions planned for May 1 will launch by this weekend (better late than never).

I appreciate all the help anyone is willing to give. I will need all the help I can get. Once all of this is finished, I just might be able to get back to writing actual articles. Yeah, I am excited as well.
