As you may know, I have been a little busy over at Current working on the Viewpoints experience, which has really cut into my blogging. Now that we are over the largest hump, I will be able to get back on the horse and start blogging on a consistent basis once again. I thought a good way to start would be to show some of the photos I have gotten back from my new Hasselblad. It has been hit-and-miss so far since I have only completed 4 rolls, but so far I am extremely amazed.

Or you may end up accidentally deleting the only copy of all the digital photos you took for the past two years - I like I did.
I think I’m going to be sick.
I have begun to get relatively sneaky with my camera to where I can appear to be photographing something other than my subject, making the person unconcerned about my existence. Once I get my 105mm lens’s focus barrel cleaned (it has been sticky as hell since purchase), I think this process will be even nicer. That is the beautiful thing about events - no one thinks you would waste your time taking a photo of them. The irony is that the actual event is all but inconsequential to me - the people in the crowd are what make it interesting.
This photo was shot with 400 speed Kodax Tri-X which is out of the norm because my normal film is 100 speed Ilford Delta. I have loved the results from the Tri-X rolls I have had developed and I think this last photographic outing is pushing me to make a permanent switch. This photo does not show it as much as others, but the range of tones and natural contrast seems so much richer than what I get with shots taken with my regular Ilford film. I would love to hear what other film users think of Kodax Tri-X as opposed to Ilford Delta.
After an extremely hectic and dramatic late April/early May I finally got a chance to actually get back to work on implementing some new features on Some Random Dude. Photography has become a very important part of my life and slowly eats up more and more of my interest. I feel I have learned so much about the craft in the past 6 months - which has shown me that I know very little about it. If anything, this revelation of my utter incompetence has fueled my desire to continue down this path.
As photography becomes a larger part of my creative life, I thought it only appropriate that this blog reflect the same. The current format of Some Random Dude frankly does not deal well with the photography format - all attempts to force the medium of photography on this blog has brought about a lot of effort with mediocre results. Because of these problems, I made the decision to create a photoblog within this blog. My hope is that the photoblog will be updated 2 or 3 times a week to better reflect the amount of photos I take. As expected, the photos will now be more of a reflection of where my photography is and less of a “greatest hits” collection.

After having what was essentially the best vacation of my life, Leah and I are back home in good old San Francisco. The vacation was absolutely amazing - we got to see one of the best baseball games in my memory, we took a plethora of photos (which will soon be posted) and walked over 27 miles in during the time we were there.
I am still getting my bearings today (jet lag is a completely new concept to me) but I should have a few posts this week in order to catch up a bit. We had an amazing time, but it is definitely good to be back.
