Weekly Photograph - Waiting At The Bus Stop

Waiting At The Bus Stop

I finally received the 105mm f/2.5 lens for our Nikons last week. The lens definitely needs a little work as the focus barrel is very tight. Still, after getting a roll back and seeing the results, I am definitely impressed. While heading home at around dusk, I went around market and started photographing anything I could find of interest. This simple bus stop scene is one of the photos I took during that excursion.

One of the reasons I enjoy taking the Canon digital SLR out for photos is the ease of autofocus as well as the instant-gratification of seeing your results on the LCD. Still, the pride of taking a shot you link in full manual settings is worth the inconvenience, in my opinion. Shooting in low light is always challenging, so for this photo to come out made me very excited. I am still going through the plethora of negatives from the last round, but from what I have seen, I already am quite happy with this lens.

Shooting with a zoom lens is a little new to me. I have shot with a 50mm ever since I got into photography and I finally have the time and resources to spend on new lenses. Honestly, it is like opening a whole other world. A lens is not going to make a person a better photographer, but it definitely will give that person more opportunities.

Weekly Photograph - Powell

Powell

Starting my new job means a new daily route to work. I decided to take our camera with us one day to take some shots on my way to work. I walk through some really cool neighborhoods, so I can foresee quite a few nice photographic possibilities in the future.

Work has been a little crazy lately so I have not had the chance to take some quality film photographs in a while. Honestly, I do not feel my recent photos have lived up to the quality that I would like, but I feel that sort of issue is part of the picture when doing a weekly feature. I am not a big supporter of lowering quality in order to pump out a product, but I do realize the importance of maintaining a regular schedule. This weekly photography feature has really kept me with a camera in my hand and I personally think that is a good thing.

As Kellie suggested in a previous post, I am going to start selling certain photos that I feel live up to the quality of being sold. I have actually been working on this for a couple weeks but have not had the chance to implement it. I am also still devising the payment method as I want to continue the not-for-profit and charitable spirit that I have really been trying to foster on this blog. Please let me know your thoughts on this. As this is definitely coming down the pipe.
