Daily Delicious – Blogging Locally

Posted on 3 January, 2007 at 1:33pm with 1 comment »

So as you might have guessed, I have changed the daily posting to from ‘Daily Digg’ to ‘Daily Delicious’. I have become increasingly disenfranchised with Digg and it just seemed counter-intuitive to have a daily post driving the content. On the other hand, I have been a huge fan of del.icio.us since it has come out and I use it extensively in other areas on this site. It just makes a lot more sense to use Delicious.

Now, on to the subject…

When I think of the internet, I think of accessing information on a global level. I am much less concerned about local news and events as I am things outside my normal scope of vision. Obviously, my bias gets in the way of fully enjoying other possibilities on the web such as staying tuned to what is happening in my own backyard. Placeblogger is all about local blogs and I have found it quite fascinating. Eventually, this could become quite a resource. I see this as less important city-folks (such as I) since we have the benefit of a New York Times or San Francisco Chronicle to keep us current on local events. However, for people with less pervasive local media (or none at all), this seems like an essential tool for staying up-to-date in your hometown. I definitely suggest having a look at it as this is just another independent source of information to get your local news from.
