Done For the Holidays

I kept up the semblance of hope that I would be able to publish some articles during this period of time…

I was wrong.

So I am going to accept reality and officially state that there will be no articles until 2008. I will be publishing the source and examples for my Actionscript 3 Layout Organizers along with some other pretty sweet concepts I have had a chance to work on, but not to flesh out as an actual blog post.

Early 2008 will be cool, I promise. Until then, enjoy the holiday season.


What Would Jesus Buy?

This weekend, my wife and I went to see Morgan Spurlock’s new movie, What Would Jesus Buy? which documents the antics of one Reverend Billy as he and the Church of Stop Shopping go around the country to make clear the insanity which is the present holiday-season. Reverend Billy is not actually a reverend, but his persona plays the stereotypical over-the-top evangelist all too well. I have made attempts to poke a stick at the holiday shopping frenzy, but after seeing how far Reverend Billy and his crew takes it, I feel slightly disgusted at my lack of effort. 1 iPod – A Grassroots Project

Call me cynical, but throughout the years I have begun to get quite turned off from the holidays. From my observations, this time of the year has turned into more of a consumer/corporate event than anything resembling holiday cheer. Last Saturday I decided to take a couple hours out of my day to try to put things into perspective. We all enjoy our luxuries, and we all enjoy giving certain luxuries to our loved ones. Nonetheless, consider what the money used to purchase a moderately priced luxury such as an iPod could do for the most impoverished in a developing nation. During this holiday season, I decided to design some posters and release printable PDFs on this very subject. My hope is this will get me, and hopefully you, to think about what our money could accomplish if spent elsewhere…
