Comment Love for February 2009

Posted on 2 March, 2009 at 12:13pm with 6 comments

With the second month out of the way for the new site, February had 45 comments which ended up totaling just $22.50. All $22.50 was donated to Carbonfund. With this month’s contribution, we offset roughly 6,000 miles driven from a car with the average miles per gallon (25.2 mpg) or roughly 2 tons of C02 according to Carbonfund’s calculator.

I am continuing to bull through fixes and features so we can get into beta as quickly as possible. The good news is, I am close. The bad news is, the list to get out of beta is very long. My hope is by early summer the site will hit 1.0. Until then, please keep commenting and I will keep donating.

Comment Love for July 2008

Well, as expected, the posts are not frequent while I work on the redesign of this blog. Surprisingly, last month still had 30 comments – totaling $15.00 of Comment Love. All $15.00 was donated to KQED.

I will be dropping the amount of working hours per week in the next week or two which will help speed up the redesign process. The design is already at the point where I could implement a beta if I was not as concerned about getting all the details right. I hope to write a little about the process in the coming weeks. Thanks to all who have commented even with my lack of updates.

CommentLuv (Quietly) Implemented

Posted on 11 April, 2008 at 3:16pm with 34 comments

To go along with the Comment Love program, I have tried to add a bit more incentive for commenting. Last week, I implemented the CommentLuv plugin. I must say, the whole thing took no time at all – it was quite a breeze. There are so many ideas and pieces of functionality that I would like to implement on this site, but when I do not even have enough time to write real articles, I have a hard time trying to bite off anything of that scale. Still, slowly but surely, I am trying to add pieces to increase participation.

There is going to be a special month of Comment Love coming up, so I hope this extra addition will help stir up conversation.

Comment Love for March 2008

Posted on 2 April, 2008 at 10:24am with 3 comments

It was another bitter-sweet month for this blog. March 2008 had the highest total of return visitors ever and RSS subscriptions are continuing to increase at a healthy rate. Still, March had only 22 comments which ended up totaling just $11.00. All $11.00 was donated to Carbonfund.

With this month’s contribution, we offset 5,680 miles driven from a car with the average miles per gallon (25.2 mpg) or roughly 2 tons of C02 according to Carbonfund’s calculator.

I have no doubt that these lack of comments have a lot to do with the fact that the format of posts has had a less open-ended format than usual. Unfortunately, this stems from a lack of time. Still, if you like this program, please let your friends about this feature. Hopefully we will hit something closer to $50 soon.

Comment Love for February 2008

I am still trying to find the right balance for commitment on this blog until things settle down. I was a bit infrequent in updates during February 2008, but we still had 35 comments – totaling $16.50 of Comment Love. All $16.50 was donated to KQED.

My blog break still has not fully kicked in, as can be seen with relatively frequent blog posts. Still, I can assure you that it will be coming soon. I am hoping that some guest posts will be coming – it is looking rather likely that it will in fact happen. My hope is that, even with the lack of posts from me, we will get above the $20 or $30 mark – something that has not happened in a while.

Fingers crossed…
