But no cigar…

Well, I thought I was going to add a key feature to the XML Slideshow, but I have hit a fundamental road block. The automatic thumbnail generation tool I was hoping to add to the slideshow did not work and I’m going to have to go an entirely different route.

My buddy Sam has been raving about Gallery so I’ll be giving that a shot the next weekend I have, although I’m not sure how easily I’ll be able to hack it to work with my slideshow by myself. I think I may need to ask Sam for a few pointers on where to go next…

As for the Actionscript code, it’s starting to feel fairly lean and mean sans one major part of the code. I still have a significant amount of commenting and documenting to do, but I think it’s all but ready to tackle the major black spot of the code, hopefully with a little guidance from ol’ Sammy.

I’m going to be out of the state for about a week, but I’m planning to hit this project hard so I can move on to my book and portfolio. This has been a great project, but it needs to be completed soon.

Black spot eh? Sounds like borrowed roswell technology to me :-D. It sends the photographs through a transdimensional flux, and back out into the real world, altered with the finery of good design.

I gotta get my hands on this code!

Hey, good luck on the trip PJ, enjoy it, and take lots of pictures ;-)!

AFAIK, Coppermine Photo Gallery is even more fully-featured than Menalto Gallery. My site is an example; the lack of content is my fault, not Coppermine’s. ;)
