I have begun to get relatively sneaky with my camera to where I can appear to be photographing something other than my subject, making the person unconcerned about my existence. Once I get my 105mm lens’s focus barrel cleaned (it has been sticky as hell since purchase), I think this process will be even nicer. That is the beautiful thing about events - no one thinks you would waste your time taking a photo of them. The irony is that the actual event is all but inconsequential to me - the people in the crowd are what make it interesting.
This photo was shot with 400 speed Kodax Tri-X which is out of the norm because my normal film is 100 speed Ilford Delta. I have loved the results from the Tri-X rolls I have had developed and I think this last photographic outing is pushing me to make a permanent switch. This photo does not show it as much as others, but the range of tones and natural contrast seems so much richer than what I get with shots taken with my regular Ilford film. I would love to hear what other film users think of Kodax Tri-X as opposed to Ilford Delta.
