More blogs coming to this domain

Posted on 28 August, 2005 at 12:31am with 1 comment »

Well, it’s official — I’m killing my other hosting account/domain (www.spikedproductions.com). If anyone wishes to purchase it from me, by all means, please let me know.

All the content from that server will be re-located to here which includes three other blogs (my personal blog, and the blogs of my good friends, Will and Kellie). Since Media Temple is such a damned good hosting provider, I thought this would be a better home for everything.

Nothing like consolidation to make life just that much easier.

I’d also like to extend an invitation to host any other design/web development blogs on this domain as well. I’m running MT 3.11 and I make a point to keep the server nice and tidy. If you’re interested in some space, comment on this post and send me your current blog address.

People downloading Tonkyou!

Posted on 17 August, 2005 at 10:50pm with no comments

Wow, I’m really surprised. I got about 60 downloads of my new icon font set in the first day. It was definitely much more than I expected. I would love to see someone actually use Tonkyou for something. By all means, drop me a line if you do.

Thank you Pixelsurgeon.

Gecko owning MSIE at SOMERANDOMDUDE

Posted on 6 April, 2005 at 12:23pm with 1 comment »

So I checked my logs for this site and for the ‘05 year, Gecko based browsers (Mozilla, Firefox, Netscape) comprise of 65% of all traffic at this site with Intenet Explorer being a paultry 35%. I’ve also seen the Mac contingent grow quite a bit to over 8% this year.

It looks like the force of evil is losing ground on both fronts. If you want to fight evil, and just be an overall better person, get Firefox and if you have a little extra bling to burn, perhaps think about running it on a Mac (sorry Apple, but Safari sucks).

Firefox still climbing the charts

Posted on 19 January, 2005 at 3:28pm with no comments

I have to say I’m starting to become surprised. The Firefox phenomenon just doesn’t seem to want to slow down as is apparent with them breaking the 18 million download mark. The upstart browser is now the #1 used browser for my blog and seems to be climbing every week. While it still has some issues with Flash on OS X, all-in-all I’m very satisfied with the 1.0 release and I’m assuming a large majority of the 18 million or so people that downloaded it are as well.

I know I’ve been covering Firefox quite a bit on this blog lately, but I really feel that this could be the beginning of a real interesting situation a year or two down the road. I feel a lot of people still using IE are doing so in the thought that IE7 will take care of all the current problems and they’d rather wait it out than take the time to migrate to a new browser. If this does not happen however, I think there is going to be a huge second movement to Firefox if the open-source browser continues to make improvements on its already solid foundation.

The exposure has been amazing and the hype has pretty much been fulfilled. The next step from Microsoft could really be the defining moment.
