Comment Love for July 2007

Posted on 1 August, 2007 at 1:29pm with no comments

It was a pretty week month for July’s Comment Love. There were 48 comments this month which totaled $24.00. All $24.00 was donated to KQED.org this month.

The reason for the low comments is directly related with the poor writing for this month. I was hoping the two experiments I did would gain some traction, but unfortunately that was not the case. Still, 24 bucks to KQED is not half bad. My hope is we will get back to the $50 area next month…

Here’s to better writing from me in the month of August.

GOOD Magazine Give-Away For June 2007

Posted on 2 July, 2007 at 8:27pm with 5 comments

Well, just as promised, the top commenter for the month of June received a year-long subscription to GOOD magazine. For anyone that frequents this site even in the slightest, I think you know who got it… For those of you who do not know, Kellie is one magazine subscription richer – she has given so much to this blog that this prize does not seem enough. Still, this is the blog’s little way of saying thank you for all the contributions.

So, as you might be able to discern from the title, I am going to keep this up on a monthly basis – as long as people keep commenting. All you have to do is be the top commenter (excluding Kellie) for the month, live in the US or Canada (GOOD does not ship to any other countries) and you will have yourself some very good reading material. This is not a popularity contest – you can vehemently disagree with me all you want. As long as you are the top commenter and have no already gotten a subscription, you will be the big winner.

Comment Love for June 2007

June’s Comment Love came close to the $50 thanks to a couple posts that garnered quite a bit of discussion. There were 94 comments this month which totaled $47.00. All $47.00 was donated to Carbonfund.org this month.

With this month’s contribution, we offset 22,210 miles driven from a car with the average miles per gallon (25.2 mpg) or 8.55 tons of C02 according to Carbonfund.org. We broke $50 last month and were just a sliver away this month – I am very happy about that. I think a lot of the responsibility for keeping these numbers up is on me in order to write articles that drive discourse – I will really be pushing that aspect of this site from this point on.

I also have no forgotten about the Good Magazine give-away feature for this month… I will be posting that later today.

Thank you to all who have commented!

Comment Love for May 2007

Posted on 1 June, 2007 at 7:29pm with 1 comment »

As mentioned, we hit the $50 mark for May 2007 and actually got a little more on top of it. The total Comment Love for last month was $52.50 – all of which was donated to KQED. I will most likely start cutting off any future Comment Love totals at the $50 mark, but I was so excited to finally reach this goal that I wanted to keep it going.

This was a really exciting event for me. I am starting to notice more and more people taking notice on what we are doing at this site – hitting this mark gives me feel that this idea is heading in the right direction. Thank you so much to everyone that commented this month (and every month prior).

50! (And a little more just for good measure)

We finally hit it! Comment Love hit the $50 limit and just for the hell of it, I will keep it going for the rest of the month. This is definitely a milestone for this blog – perhaps not the most dramatic milestone, but a milestone nonetheless.

Thanks to everyone that commented this month and all the months prior. Here’s to next month hitting the big 50 as well.
