It is that time of the week again. I made it by the skin of my teeth this time.
I have decided to attempt some organization to the links by general topics. I try to pick a diverse set of links that mirrors my interests and hopefully will be of interest to you as well. I have begun to get submissions for links which I greatly appreciate. I cannot say for certain that all the links will make it every week, but I will try to be more open to suggestions than closed.
Here are this week’s links. Enjoy.
Design
- Learn to Write - A List Apart
- A great article about something many designers will not like to hear. Believe it or not, design in fact is not limited to Photoshop skills.
- Readability Test - Juicy Studio
- After reading the article above, you may want to subject your past writings to this test. I would not suggest taking any computerized test too seriously, but it can be a helpful insight into your writing.
- Mikons
- This site actually just got rolled onto the del.icio.us popular page. It is a very interesting concept with quite a few very interesting icons.
Typography
- So, What Size and Type of Font Should I Use on My Website? - Usability News
- Ah yes, typographic usability - everyone’s favorite page turner! While it may not be the most exciting topic, it is a very important subject to be versed in. I would highly suggest giving it a read.
- Semplice Pixelfonts
- A collection of free pixel fonts. Free is good.
- FontEditor BitFontMaker 0.1
- Even better, make your own font and release it for free. I have all the intentions of making my own pixel font with this tool as soon as I get the chance.
- Mean Tangerine
- Anti-aliased pixel fonts. Interesting idea.
Photography
- How to Shoot People (and Places and Things) - Subtraction
- A great read focusing on what to look for when taking a photo. A great read.
- Ice Lens Photography
- I am still dumb-founded that someone was able to do this. The photos taken from this lens are amazing.
- FILM IS DEAD! - Black & White World
- A sad look into the not-too-distant future of film. It will not be too much longer before film costs $20 a role and $30 to develop. A depressing but very clairvoyant article.
