I’m not sure where this sudden fascination with icon design has come from…
I’ve just made another icon set - this time however, it’s not a font but rather 16×16 pixel raster icons. This was the first time where the outcome was completely expected - unlike both the Iconitos and Tonkyou icon sets. In addition, this set of icons actually has some tangible use which is also a departure from the first two projects.
The work to put these icons together was actually fairly quick. I do have to say that I spent quite a lot of time studying pixel icon design from other prominent designers before I worked on this project. I can see some striking resemblances in certain icon designs to those that I based this design from. Nonetheless, I really tried to make this a unique set as much as possible, however, when you have a total of 256 pixels (a large portion of that being the background), it becomes much harder to push the envelope…
All in all, I’m really happy with how this project turned out. It was definitely a new experience and one that I would have no issue with repeating.
