We all know New Year’s resolutions are absolutely useless. I am proud to say that I have never actually succumbed to the drudgery which is the January 1st resolution. That being said, I have decided to voluntarily take on a self-imposed sanction on my web statistics application, Mint. If I compiled all the minutes out of the day I spent looking at Mint, I most likely could have devised a way to end world hunger by now. So I am going to make a point to pay my Mint no attention for one month. Will I succeed? Obviously not – I have no doubt that I will routinely forget about this foolish attempt against the inevitable. Nonetheless, I am going to give it my best go and see what it does for me.
For all you other Mint users, any thoughts on how many hours you spend staring over your stats each month? I would be curious to hear from fellow addicts. Also, if anyone wishes to join in on this, drop a comment and give me a rough estimate of how many hours of your life you think you have saved.

Resolutions never work because people expect drastic changes for themselves. Why not take the moderation route and make a resolution to only check Mint once a night before you go to bed? :-P

2.01.2007 12:56 pmKellie – I completely agree with you. SomeRandomDude can have a tendency to be a little obsessive compulsive at times :) It’s all or nothing!
I will be the not so secret Nancy Drew of this little resolution. Mint is usually one of the tabs in SomeRandomDude’s browser. I will take a peek to see if this is still the case in January 2007. ;)

Leah – Is that a threat? ;)
Steve – After only two days, I can definitely see how that would be the case…
