I usually do not post YouTube videos on Some Random Dude, but this definitely warranted an exception. I am unsure of the method towards this effect, but it is one of the creepiest, yet visually stunning treatments to video I have seen since those video sequences The Matrix made famous (and subsequently ran into the ground). This is well worth a view… Not to mention a second.

28.06.2007 5:53 pmThe youTube comments actually go into quite a discussion on the techniques used to achieve this effect.
It’s not trivial but with the right set up (commonly available video editing tools) not out of reach of most video editors technically… the problem is producing the right source material to make the effect as visually impressive as it is here…
That said, I’ve watched it 4 of 5 times now and it’s quite mesmerising ;)

24.01.2008 2:27 pmThis effect is really easy to do. It’s called a ‘time displacement map’ and it’s done in a piece of adobe software called after effects. the ‘map’ is just a black and white image being applied to a source image (the video of the girl). the software offsets the time based on the grey value of the pixel. ie. black = offset by 4 seconds, grey = 2 seconds, and white = no offset

30.07.2008 1:30 amAn effect that is long known to the demoscene and that has been used in many realtime demonstrations like this one:

22.08.2008 3:28 amDamn! Wasn’t expecting something like this. I can think of many possibilities with this effect. This effect can do wonders for movie production. Though its perfect and lacks some finishing touches, but still worth looking at.
