Some Random Dude

The latest version of this site was built with the consideration for advertisements and promotions to fit within various areas of the on each page. Since I am under the opinion that advertising on the internet is quite woeful, I thought it would be interesting to see if I could do something better on my own site. I am much less interested in the monetary aspect as I am working on new ideas/implementations to promote third party content to an audience.

If you are interested in advertising for Some Random Dude, here are a few things I look for:

• New and interesting collaborative methods of outreach to users
• Creating useful and meaningful impacts to user experience
• The service or product being promoted will be appreciated by this site’s core audience

Below are three things that are show-stoppers. If your promotion contains any of the following, it will not be accepted:

• Adult or gambling websites (there are enough ads for those on the internet as is)
• Promotions that hamper the user experience of the site in any way. This includes foldouts, text tooltip and other ‘gotcha’ ads
• Promotions that would ‘break’ the visual identity of the site

Pricing for promotional space will vary based on various parameters. Non-profits and other good causes that fit with the content of this site will be given a lower rate.
