It’s the simple things…
MegaReader (iTunes link) now takes advantage of the iPhone’s rear-facing camera to display what is in front of someone while their eyeballs are fixed on their phone. They released a humorous video giving a basic demonstration of how it works. This type of feature is good for everyone, including those who do not even own iPhones.
I am curious what the reading experience is with video streaming in the background. At first guess, I would think the video would need some type of treatment in order to not impact legibility, such as a drop in opacity or a grayscale filter. However, I am assuming anything too complex would then begin to hamper battery life. Details aside, I think this is a very clever idea to a real issue with mobile devices. I expect to see a lot more of this in a wide range of apps.
